CHANTILLY, Va., Sept. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — MOSS Building & Design is pleased to announce that it is the top winner in the 2020 Chrysalis Regional Award Category for Kitchen Remodeling for this stunningly modern, urban chic kitchen remodel in Oak Hill, Virginia. Continuing to set new standards of professionalism, 79 companies from across the United States were named winners for Remodeling Excellence this year, with entries judged on overall design, creative use of space and materials, and degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.
“This was the first year [MOSS Building & Design] entered the awards, and to take home top honors on the first attempt is impressive,” says Ken Kanline, Director of the Awards.
MOSS Building & Design was tasked with a very specific vision for this kitchen remodel, transforming it from its original, standard look and feel to the more modern “urban loft style” that matched the design of the rest of the home. With an eye to a contemporary and almost minimalist design, the MOSS Building & Design team brought the client’s vision to reality, focusing on clean lines, eclectic and uniquely fabricated fixtures, and a stunning use of quartz on both the massive island and the walls, among other updates.
“Kitchens aren’t something that I understand…to watch the design team take those [ideas] and present those back to me into something that I could have never conceived and having them be brilliant was exciting. And then to watch that unfold into a beautiful building…was beyond exciting. It’s more than we had envisioned,” said the MOSS Building & Design client and homeowner. MOSS Building & Design’s expert designers re-configured the space for better functionality, replacing the original cabinetry, appliances, countertops, and the highly un-useable original island as well as changing the layout of the room’s footprint. In a unique twist, MOSS Building & Design curated a black Fenix material from Italy to create a seamless “wall” across the kitchen’s long back edge. In fact, the “wall” is a series of cabinets that “hide” and house the kitchen’s refrigerator, freezer, pantry, and the door to the garage. To complete the illusion, all cabinet and appliance doors on the wall operate via a touch system.
“This project was a labor of love for our MOSS Building & Design team and the homeowners – we strive to work with our clients as much as for them to create a new space in their home that gives them exactly what they hoped for. We’re incredibly proud to be recognized for this beautiful and unique kitchen remodel,” said Paul DesRoches, MOSS Building & Design CEO.
The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in fourteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling.
