Glass Fire: Live maps, evacuation information and road closures

Some evacuation orders in Santa Rosa and Calistoga have been downgraded to warnings.

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. — Every firefighter who could work came to work and most are still out there, Santa Rosa Fire Chief Tony Gossner said during a press conference Tuesday.

As firefighters that haven’t slept since Sunday, worked to protect homes and mop up hot spots, homeowners like Leo Sheerin are breathing a sigh of relief.

“I don’t know I guess it’s God’s grace that we still have a house to live in,” Sheerin said. “So many people lost their homes.”

He stayed behind during evacuations, just like he did during the Tubbs Fire in 2017.

“No, you can’t sleep during that when you see that whole ridge across burning,” Sheerin said. “No, you’re not going to get any sleep knowing how fast it moves.”

Meanwhile, many Santa Rosa homeowners that did chose to evacuate on Sunday returned on foot to check on their homes two days later.

Eighty structures, described by Cal Fire as “single-family residences” have been destroyed across two counties, as 28 of those structures are in Sonoma County.

“Seeing it standing is kind of important, but we’re just thankful we’re still alive!” Karen Jones, an evacuee said.

Jones and her family came back to pull out valuables, basic essentials and even something for their dog.

“He wouldn’t leave the house without the dog bed!” she said.

Still, she says her family has become all too familiar with evacuations like these that continue to happen, year after year.

“California has had a lot of stuff happen in the last couple of years and it’s just unfortunate that it keeps happening,” she said. “It’s just like, how much more can one state take?”

Jones is hopeful her home will be ok, this time around, even

Good morning, and welcome to our rolling coverage of the world economy, the financial markets, the eurozone and business.

A swathe of UK companies are reporting today that Covid-19 continues to hurt their businesses, more than six months after the UK first imposed restrictions to battle the pandemic.

High street baker Greggs has warned that staff faced reduced hours, and potentially job cuts, as it tries to cut its employment costs.

Greggs, famous for its steak bakes, sausage rolls and new vegan offerings, reports that like-for-like sales in September are only 76.1% of the 2019 levels (an improvement on a ‘slow’ August).

With the government’s furlough scheme wrapping up in a month (replaced by a less generous wage subsidy package), Greggs says it must make cuts:

With business activity levels remaining below normal for the foreseeable future we must change the way we work to be as productive and flexible as we can in order to protect as many jobs as possible for the long term. We have completed a review of our activity and requirements in every part of the business and are now proposing a series of changes which are the subject of a collective consultation with union and employee representatives.

Our aim is to minimise the risk of job losses by negotiating reduced hours in our shops and we will update on the outcome of the consultation when concluded.

Newcastle based Greggs say they plan to cut staff hours to “minimise the risk of job losses”.

This is when the furlough scheme ends next month.

The chain say though, sales have picked up over the past month as it continues its recovery following

Amicable and most comfortable live well bath spaces at your home enables all that are needed, for a whistling mood. Don't you have them? No worries – now you can magically transform your master bedroom, children's, guest bathroom and their surrounds look glamorous and luxurious to the core.

What is needed is smart planning and execution to upgrade them, the way you want them to be. Activating your mind in a positive, healthy and happy mood is in your hands.

Refurbishment / Re-designing your Bath Space:

Before embarking on the actual construction work by the contractor, you must "visualize" your future bathroom. Care to be taken in selecting from tiles, sanitaryware, and faucets (commonly known as fittings), good rain shower, wellness tub, even a few accessories can add elegance to suit your budget and space.

Take into consideration the available bath space, the modern bathroom design, the comforts and luxuries you expect, and also the fittings and furniture you want to fix to make your bathroom "inviting". If the planning is done perfectly without any ambiguity, the execution will be much easier.

Bath space provision:

The concept of bathroom up-gradation hinges upon the available bath space already there. Yet there are workable construction techniques, whereby you can "extend" or "elongate" the bath space, by proper arrangements of actual utility space; storage space; fixtures exactly required to make your bathroom look more spacious and imperious.

For example, a luxurious sauna tub can add glamor to your bathroom. Instead of going in for an ordinary bath tub, you can think of the latest style sauna tub, which will totally change the elegance and beauty of your bathroom, instantly.

Similarly, the upgrading opportunity …
